Day 2: Ale8 - The Big Four Bridge - Rose Island

I'm already at a day I have to break up in a few posts!

Day 2 was a BIG day though.
Not only did we see some really fun things, but it was the 4th of July!

We've got a buddy who is from Winchester and he told us we HAVE to stop at a gas station and try some Ale8. It's a local brew that we definitely needed to start the day with.

Fueled by the crisp taste of Ale8 we continued heading  on through Kentucky and arrived at The Big Four Bridge. We even walked the half mile from Kentucky, over the Ohio River and into Indiana.

We drove by Slugger Field on the way out of the state into Indiana!

While in Indiana we visited the remnants of an old Amusement park called Rose Island.
It was such an interesting concept. There was a Dance Hall and a Pool. Make sure you click this link to read all about it. It was kind of eerie walking around the remaining foundations.

The kicker is, shortly after beginning our hike into the woods to see it all we began feeling sprinkles and then out of NOWHERE (actually, the weather app lied. We were supposed to have 28 minutes before the downpour!) lightning began flashing and the thunder demanded its presence be known. Then the sky opened up and it began pouring on us! We decided to regroup under a tree before agreeing to run for it! (I mean what is safer; running through the rain hoping not to get struck by lightning or hiding under trees that, if struck by lightning will surely cause us to die.) Ya'll, we were absolutely drenched and out of breathe when we made it to the car. Eventually we made drove out from under the rainclouds and found a trucker stop to unload the car (again) to dig out some dry clothes so we didn't have to travel in our soggy ones for the remainder of the day. Some of us were a little (read A LOT) less thrilled about this adventure than others, lol.

***Day two will continue in the next post***
