What Did You Say? - "...Stay Out Of The Kitchen"

Preface:  While Josh and I were laying in bed talking last night we were blown away with how blessed we have been by our family and friends in the area over the past week while I've been recouping.  We have more food in the house than I have ever seen in my house at one time...ever.  It is very humbling to be served the way you all have come to serve us in so many ways!

Me: "I know, it's crazy how much food is in there.  My medicine has made me lose some of my appetite though, I think.  I mean, I am eating, but I just don't feel "hungry" at all.  It's weird."

I am thinking Josh is saying:  "I am pretty proud of how you have stayed out of the kitchen the last few days."

What he actually said was:  "I am pretty proud of how you have stayed out of the kitchen the last few days."

Wait a minute...I heard him correctly?!

I'm thinking:  "Wow, I mean, do I normally just stuff my face all day when I'm home with the kids?"

See, what he meant to have said was:  "Let me complete this thought with you and then move on to the next one baby.  OK...I'm sorry you haven't had much of an appetite lately, I'm sure that's normal after your kind of surgery.  Now, moving on in my train of thought...I'm pretty proud of you for staying off of your feet and not wanting to straighten the house and for staying out of the kitchen and not trying to keep up with the dishes."

Shew...now isn't that much better;)

What Did You Say?

After slipping out of our worship meeting to go to the bathroom I quietly sat back down in my seat next to Kelly.

Kelly, leaning over and whispering in my ear: "Did you dye your hair?"

Me: "WHAT?"

Kelly: repeating herself, "Did you dye . your . hair!"

Me:  puzzled and staring at her blankly, "WHAT?!"

Kelly: staring back at me, wondering why I was so confused...

I'm Thinking:  "Geez, I know we're family and all, but can't a girl have some privacy!"

See, I thought she was saying "Did you diarrhea?" and that is why the conversation quickly became a little awkward, ha!

What Did You Say?

Tasha: "It feels SO good outside. It makes me want to sit on the front porch with a cup of tea."

Josh THOUGHT I said: "It feels SO good outside. It makes me want to sit on the front porch and plant some seeds."

He's thinking: Babe, I know you are all about gardening these days, but good grief, take a break!

What Did You Say? - "Singles"

Josh: "There sure are a lot of shingles out there."

I THOUGHT he said: "There sure are a lot of singles out there."

So I'm thinking he's trying to break up with me or something;)

We really did have a lot of shingles in our yard after all that wind a couple of weeks ago! Not quite sure how we have any left on our roof. Anyway, we took advantage of the sunshine and headed outside. We made a game out of it for the kids and we all enjoyed the exercise. Besides, I needed to get out and check out all the "singles" meandering around our neighborhood to see what my options were=)

Micaiah helped by looking cute and eating grass=)

What Did You Say? - Some Good "S"

Tasha: "I just got rid of all of Cai's clothes that I really don't like because I don't ever dress him in the stuff that I don't like."

Josh: "That's the same with us."

I THOUGHT he said: "That's some good 'S' "

So I'm thinking: "Uh...really? I had no idea you felt so passionately about the kid's wardrobe, ha!"

What Did You Say?

Every once in a while...alright maybe a little more than every ONCE in a while, Josh and I will have a breach in our communication.

We know it has just occurred when the following happens:

One of us just finishes saying something profound, and the other just looks at the other with a blank stare, trying to process the previous request, statement, or sentence.

I decided that I would dedicate a series of posts for these oh-so-funny moments in time. I know some of them just won't be given justice unless you were present for the communication mishap but I'll record it here none-the-less. It'll be a good laugh regardless, HA!

Josh: "Yeah, Chad does some pretty cool things with loops."

I THOUGHT he said: "Yeah, Chad does some pretty cool things with lutes."

I'm thinking: "I mean, I know Chad is talented but wow, a lute? I had no idea!"
