Looking Back - Filming Cloner

 

Zeke's filming days became a highlight of the summer and all throughout Covid.

He began writing a movie script based on a book that his friend, Silas, began writing.

Then the best mom in the world would get on a massive mom group-text to coordinate schedules to have filming days. Rainy was more than excited to help create the props that Zeke had created in his mind.

It was actually pretty amazing to see Zeke's leadership come alive.

His friends seemed to love it just as much as he did.

I know they created memories that they will never forget!

We also are now proud of owners of several fighting swords daggers and various other weapons.

Much to this mama's dismay, ha!

Zeke got pretty good at making fake wounds from a kit he got.

Looking Back- July 2020

 

We caught up with a lot of friends as the summer wore on

and the initial fears and uncertainties of Covid released us.

Harper turned 16 and took her friends to the beach!

The Mayhugh's continued to be a constant in our lives

We joined our friends, the George's, at their favorite spot at Falls Lake.

Happy and Everest loved being close to us.

We decided to stay on the year-round track schedule so we began school in July.

It helped to keep us in some kind of routine and schedule.

Rainy painted.

And painted. And painted.

So much so that she ran out of canvases.

So she moved on to her closet door, ha!

Looking Back - June 2020

June was full of summer, sunshine and fun.

Our sweet ducks kept Rainy occupied and filled her "friend" tank when actually people couldn't be around.

Alethia and Cai had a drive-through 5th grade graduation.

It was a little anti-climactic and still so sad for them that they didn't get to tell their friends goodbye, but the teachers and staff did a great job celebrating the kids in the best way they could.

Much of Josh's job during the height of the shutdown was to touch base with our people

at the church.  We could tell from so many conversations that people (including us) were desperate for some real, face-to-face time. So Josh had a brilliant idea.  We turned our carport into a social distance gathering spot.  We even got donations for snacks from people to be able to share with those who signed up for different slots during the weeks to come and just catch up.  

It really filled our hearts during that season.

Looking Back Protests of 2020

 Our country was in such a state of division and hate. Coming in on the tails of the incoming pandemic were a string of unnecessary deaths. Specifically seeming to target black lives.  The stakes were (are) high and the growing racial tension was (is) thick. The news during the summer of 2020 in particular was full of stories of protests and unrest. My heart was heavy and unsure of what to say and do.

One afternoon we loaded up Poppie's truck and headed downtown to join in a protest and stand in solidarity with the hurting.

Looking Back May 2020

 May was full of nature, strawberry picking, song writing, house remodeling ideas and friends.

With a few sweet, quiet moments sprinkled in between.

 

 

Looking Back - Field Trip Friday's 2020

 We started taking advantage of Josh's days off and finding any trail or open space outside that was open to get out of the house and explore.  We quickly realized just how amazing our city and surrounding area is.
