Would you rather have a Summer baby or Winter baby?
I am pregnant with my second summer baby. People keep looking at me with pity saying, "Oh, I'm so sorry. You are going to be miserable!!!" But I don't feel that way at all. I get swollen face either way and I'd much rather not have a layer of sweaters and/or snow coats adding to the swollen look, you know what I mean?=) Not to mention having to stuff swollen feet into close-toed winter shoes?!
There is nothing that feels better than being 9 months pregnant and throwing on a flowing tank top or sundress! Or just jumping (well, I didn't say it would be graceful=)) into the kitty pool in the back yard.
That's just me though. How about you?

Ah. A positive perspective on the going joke with our friends. "You can tell Rita didn't plan this. She's gonna be swole-up ALL SUMMER LONG!" You're right. A tank top or a summer dress and flip flops sound MUCH better than winter garb over a seriously swollen body!
I agree. Trey was born July 5, so I never had to buy a maternity coat or new shoes because of the swelling. My boss even let me wear flip flops to work. Plus, it was so nice to be able to take Trey outside after he was born. He lived in onesies the first few months. So if we decide to have another, rest assured we will try for a summer baby!
There really are pros and cons to both but I like the idea of not delivering in the middle of the winter - not dealing with snow storms and frigid weather - not being worried if the apartment is too cold for your poor newborn, etc. I'm sure I'll have other equal worries about the summer heat, but in theory it all sounds great to me. I had my last in the beginning of April which meant pregnant all winter (I'll admit it was nice having a personal space heater in the winter) but the weather was still pretty cold when we delivered - luckily being April it didn't stay really cold for long. :)
Summer Baby!! I would much rather spend the latter months of pregnancy in warm months than in cold months!!! I am totally with you on the sun dresses!! Tank tops, flip flops....swimming...wonderful!!
Ha, but that's funny, I get people saying they feel bad for me too - about being pregnant in the summer.
SUMMER!!!! I had Luke in September and David in March. I loved the lightweight clothes, exercising, and a sun tan!! No flu, colds, or stomach bugs, and we got to enjoy some warm weather before the cold came:) With David, winter required too many layers and no exercising :(...summer for me definitely!!
I agree with you. I'll be pregnant all summer long and get to have my baby when the leaves are changing and the air is cooling off (blessed relief for a very pregnant woman!). I'd rather wear flip flops and tank tops, too!
i realize that the clothes issue is a wonderful reason for a summer baby, it's just that I can't handle summer heat by myself let alone adding a baby into the picture. I'm really excited about baby Waggoner in November. Carolina fall is wonderful. Just a shirt and light cardigan...
I absolutely agree. Camden was born October 2 and Levi was born February 5. So, I can tell you that I definately preferred pregnancy in the summer. Not only do you get to wear clothes that are comfy...but I was also much more active during my pregnant summer than during the winter. I always laughed when people said they felt bad:) If they only knew.
I have to go with winter baby. Maybe because I'm not much of a dress or skirt wearer? Actually, partly because I really like being able to "hibernate" for a few months and blame it on the weather.
Last summer was a hot one to be pregnant. I am glad I am not this year. But two things I liked about it were wearing skirts (I could wear my regular skits and didn't have to buy more maternity clothes)and wearing flipflops.
