Memory Meal

Last time Josh had a ministry trip I planned themed meals every night to keep our day interesting and to look forward to something everyday.  I would have LOVED to do that this time but with my lack of motivation and energy these days AND the fact that Josh will be gone 2 weeks I decided to do something different.

For the meals that we are home as a family over the next 2 weeks we are going to learn a different memory verse.  For SOME reason a verse came to mind about whining and fighting so I thought it would be an appropriate one to learn together=)

So, here are the rules.  After we bless the meal we say the verse together a couple of times before we dig in.  Then, throughout the meal when I say "freeze", or if one of the kids gets the urge to say it=) we have to stop what we are doing and say the verse again, then throughout the rest of the evening we practice it off and on, concluding during our family devotion time before bed.

The kids weren't too crazy about having to wait to eat dinner at first, but it didn't take them long to catch on.  By the end of Josh's trip we should have a handful of verses about attitude and obedience down=)  We are going to be gone a lot visiting friends and family but I thought we'd make good use out of our time we ARE at home.

Tonight's Verse:
Philippians 2:14
"Do everything without complaining or arguing."

Great idea and that should be our theme verse lately. Wow there is a lot of arguing during the day huh?!

What a great idea - almost like a game. Memorizing scripture is so good for kids, and much easier than for adults. Maybe I should do this too, just for me!
