We have LOTS of toys in this house. You'd think that if 1 toy were being played with by one of my children, the other would find something else, just as fun, to play with, BUT NO ... they only want what the other's got!! There are several "items" that top the chart though...
Here are a couple of them:
Babydoll stroller
Areyna's Littlest PetShop puppy dog
Pocket Books
Umbrella
Etch-a-Sketch
You get the picture. Whether it is just my two kids or we have friends over, these toys are always the ones the kids end up fighting over.
Do you have THESE kinds of toys? If so, how do you handle this situation? Put it away to avoid the situation all together, buy another one??? I must admit, there are a couple of these items I've gotten 2 of, just to avoid the meltdown, but for the most part we just try to work it out as best we can.

That's funny, out babydoll stroller is one of the highly contested toys between our two...along with a play cell phone...or whatever else the other person is holding at any given time =)
I have been continuously baffled on this since I started baby sitting for a friend of mine, they will not share toys - and if there are three of them, one of them insists they need all three. A constant battle! The trucks (which we have dozens of) are always being fought over, like one specific one each time. The legos - again something they could play together. I don't get it.
We definitely have those toys.
Baby doll stroller,
grocery cart
Magna-doodle
musical instruments
...to name a few
It is nice that we have more than 1 'push' toy, so that when they both want the stroller, one can have the grocery cart instead (After some coercing). Sometimes we talk to Cana about taking turns...if they still cannot share, many times we will take it away - explaining that they lost the toy because they are fighting over it.
